Kari (Olsdatter) Johnson (1811 - Aft. 1895)

Kari Olsdatter was born 1811 on Vatna farm, Stord, Hordaland County, Norway. She died after 1895. She was daughter of Ole Jensen Vatna and Kari Olsdatter Vatna. She married Tørris Jansen Hystad on Nov. 21, 1831(# 28) in Stord church, Hordaland County, Norway. They had 6 children:

1. Helene (Tørrisdatter) Johnson, b. Jan. 16, 1832(# 7), d. Mar. 3, 1873, m. Aug. 13, 1869, Mathias Johnson. Immigration 1868, see below. Mathias in Find A Grave.
2. Else Tørrisdatter, b. Dec. 19, 1835(# 4), d. Dec. 31, 1835(# 14).
3. Else (Tørrisdatter) Johnson, b. Jan. 30, 1838(# 19), d. Nov. 24, 1916, m. Nov. 9, 1859(# 30), Tallak Johnson.
4. Dordi (Tørresdatter), b. June 1, 1840(# 41), immigration Apr. 27, 1866, with the ship Martha who arrived in Quebec June 11, 1866.
5. Jan (John Torrisen) Torison, b. Aug. 24, 1842(# 88), d. aft. 1907, immigration Apr. 27, 1866, with the ship Martha who arrived in Quebec June 11, 1866.
6. Ole (Tørrisen) Johnson, b. July 20, 1848(# 80), immigration 1868, see below.

Kari's christening was held on Aug. 18, 1811 in Stord church, Hordaland County.

In the 1865 census Kari was living on Hystad farm in Stord together with her husband Tørris and their children Jan (John), Ole and Helene.

Tørris Johnson, his wife Kari and their children Helene and Ole emigrated from Bergen on Apr. 23, 1868 with the ship Ørnen(see # 287 - 290) and they arrived in Quebec, Canada on June 6, 1868.

In the 1870 census Kari was living in Minnesota together with her husband and their son Ole. Her son John and his wife are also living with them.

In the 1875 census Kari was living in Colfax, Kandiyohi, Minnesota together with her husband, her daughter Else, her husband and their children.

In the 1880 census Kari was living in Colfax, Kandiyohi, Minnesota together with her daughter Else, her husband and their children.

In the 1885 census Kari was living in Colfax, Kandiyohi, Minnesota together with her daughter Else, her husband and their children.

In the 1895 census Kari was living in Colfax, Kandiyohi, Minnesota together with her daughter Else, her husband and their children.
